This process will be used to establish a pool of candidates that will be used to staff term (temporary) and indeterminate (permanent) positions in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu and Valcartier. This pool could also be used to fill similar positions with or whitout supervision within the Department of National Defense in Quebec Area.

EDUCATION:
• Secondary school diploma or a secondary school equivalency from the Ministry of Education.
AND
• Vocational diploma (DEP) in institutional cooking OR Red Seal certification as a cook OR Level 5 (NQ5) military cook's certificate issued by the CAF.
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience as a cook in an institutional, commercial, hotel or any other location deemed equivalent.
KNOWLEDGE:
• General knowledge of health, security, hygiene, and salubrity rules.
• Knowledge of culinary terminologies.
• Basic culinary knowledge.
CAPACITIES:
• Capacity to solve simple math equations.
• Capacity to work under pressure.
• Capacity to communicate verbally and in writing.
PERSONAL QUALITIES:
• Thinking things through.
• Demonstrating integrity and respect.
• Working effectively with others; and
• Showing initiative and being action-oriented.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
TRAINING:
• Kitchen Management Attestation of College Studies (ACS).
• Training related to health and hygiene.
• WHIMIS training.
• Any other relevant training related to the positions to be filled.
• First aid qualification.
EXPERIENCE FOR GS-FOS-05 / B3 ONLY:
• Experience as a supervisor in a commercial / institutional / hotel food service environment or in any other location deemed equivalent.
KNOWLEDGE:
• Advanced culinary knowledge.
• Knowledge of hazardous products.

ORGANISATIONAL NEEDS:

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• Available to work irregular hours (on call), shift work, weekends and consent to work additional (overtime) hours on occasion.
• Compliance of the Food Safety Code of Practice.
• The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with safety regulations.
• Capacity to lift and manipulate material weighing up to 20kg in all respect of food practices.
• The candidates must respect and maintain the conditions of employment during the time of employment.
