The successful candidate will be called upon to perform maintenance (corrective and preventive), construction work and perform minor vehicule repairs and/or landscape maintenance work for clients of Correctional Services Canada (CSC). The person will have to work in a multidisciplinary team and to collaborate with other internal and external stakeholders.
The technical Services and installations, Quebec Region, of Correctional Service Canada is a stimulating and dynamic environment where the mission is to ensure the operation, compliance and sustainability of a real estate portfolio in an operational environement. We are responsible for institutions and penitenciaries clusters as well as parole offices and community correctional centers located throughout Quebec. The facilities we manage are diverse such as buildings and structures, building mechanical systems, electrical distribution networks, infrastructures, generators, oil tanks, thermal power stations, water treatment and purification plants, roads, fences, barriers, and automobile fleets to name only those.
The process' objective is to create a pool of qualified candidates with the purpose of filling a permanent position in April 2021. The pool of candidates could also be used to fill other similar determinate and inderterminate positions within Correctional Services Canada in the region of Port-Cartier.

Education
A secondary school diploma or a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience* in the operations, repair and/or maintenance of building architectural/structural components (such as heating, air conditioning, ventilation, plumbing and electrical systems normally associated with infrastructure and building maintenance.)
Experience in the maintenance of motorized equipment.
Experience supervising workers.
*Minimum of 1 year experience in the last 3 years.
Graduation from a recognized college (2 years minimum) in a related field.
Post Secondary - Certificate program associated with Building and/or Facility system maintenance or acceptable equivalent.
Applicable Provincial certification required to perform the duties of the position.
Certification in a relevant trade.
Possession of valid Fall Protection Certification
Possession of valid Confined Space Certification
Possession of valid WHMIS Certification
Experience working in a correctional environment.
Experience in the use of hydraulic press brakes, sheet metal sheers and welding equipment.
Experience operating powered lift equipment with up to 7,000-pound capacity.

Must be willing to work overtime and flexible hours.
Must possess a valid provincial driver’s license, with the appropriate endorsements.
Reliability status.
Must be able to work and lift tools, equipment and objects weighing at least 50 lbs.
Must be able to work in a 24/7 environment.
Must have a valid driver license.
