It will be expected for you to assess how Indigenous Peoples experience the delivery of government services on a day-to-day basis and identify ways to improve delivery that are holistic, community-based, and put
the needs of the person first.
STREAM 1 - REGIONAL JUNIOR PROGRAM OFFICER
Working as part of a team that is engaging and negotiating with First Nations’ partners in the transformation of Education on Reserve toward First Nations Control of First Nations Education, this position will require an individual with knowledge of program administration processes and practices, and analytical skill for evaluation of funding proposals/requests. Services to the public/external clients will be handled with knowledge of ISC programs.
STREAM 2 - REGIONAL SENIOR PROGRAM OFFICER
With the creation of Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) and the transformation of education, this position will be part of a team that will support First Nations to build a strong, community-based, linguistically and culturally-appropriate education system for their students. Our vision is to support First Nation control of First Nation education by establishing a nation-to-nation relationship that strengthens First Nation education, focusing on sufficient, predictable and sustained funding. Key activities of the position will include planning, developing and managing programs, projects and services. This position will require an individual with leadership skills, strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated capacity to work as part of a team.
This is an ANTICIPATORY process for both Regional Junior and Regional Senior Program Officer positions.
It will be used to create an anticipatory pool of qualified candidate which could be used to staff, or offer acting appointments. Please indicate for which position you are applying for.

EDUCATION:
Stream 1- PM 02 Only: A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.
Note: the employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
- A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
- An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Stream 2- PM 04 Only: Graduation with a diploma or a degree from a post-secondary institution in business administration or management, social sciences, public administration, aboriginal studies, or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed OR an acceptable combination of education, relevant training, and experience defined as successful completion of 2 or more years of experience in a relevant field supplemented by relevant training or successful course work.
- For the acceptable combination of education, training and experience, candidates must provide a list of completed courses as well as a description of relevant experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience working on teams, such as working in groups or projects.
Experience providing advice and services to clients.
Stream 2- PM 04 Only: Experience preparing management reports (including but not limited to briefing material or financial analysis).
