The Mental Health Educator will serve to inform and distribute resources to all categories of employees in regards to internal support services offered. Through presentations, consultations with employees, outreach to detachments and the implementation of our 2020-2023 Well-being Strategy, the Mental Health Educator ensures the employees of the RCMP are provided with the most accurate and relevant mental health information. Amongst the responsibilities of the Mental Health Educator is the research and development of mental health, wellness and operational stress injury programs, education and policies for delivery to all RCMP employees. The Mental Health Educator will also work in collaboration with the Wellness Unit and is the go-to mental health person for our division.
The intent of this process is to staff one (1) permanent position in Edmonton, AB. If a future vacancy comes available, candidates who have been found qualified may be contacted.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

Graduation with a degree from a post-secondary institution in an area such as education along with significant coursework in psychology or another mental health related field.
Note:
When education is required, candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Experience in at least two of the following:
• Instructional program design
• Instructional program development
• Instructional program analysis and/or
• Instructional program evaluation.
- Experience working in a training or education environment.
- Experience teaching adult learners.
- Experience establishing and maintaining working relationships with internal or external partners/stakeholders.
- Experience providing information, advice and guidance to management and staff.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
- Experience with mental health, wellness and operational stress best practices in the areas of prevention and treatment.
- Experience running social marketing campaigns.
- Experience working with first responders in the areas of mental health, wellness and/or operational stress.
