Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to establish a pool of partially or fully qualified candidates for future needs. The pool may be used to staff similar positions on a permanent (indeterminate) or temporary basis (specified period appointment or casual).

Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Significant** experience providing client services (in person, by phone or in writing).
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite including: Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Experience providing *administrative support services in an office environment.

NOTE:
* Administrative support services refers to activities that support the day to day operations of an organization; these generally include (but are not limited to) scheduling, managing and distributing information within the office, entering/tracking information in databases, answering phones, booking travel, managing meeting logistics, electronic information management, scanning documents, tracking budget expenses, minutes, etc.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

The ASSET qualification(s) may be used for screening of applications and/or may be invoked at any time of the selection process. AED1: Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.
AED2: Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Degree equivalency

AEX1: Experience in providing administrative support services in Finance or Accounting.
AEX2: Experience in providing administrative support services in Human Resources.
AEX3: Experience in providing administrative support services in Information Management.
AEX4: Experience in managing logistics for meetings/teleconferences, videoconferences or other events.
AEX5: Experience in preparing agendas, taking minutes and drafting decision records.
AEX6: Experience in the use of a financial/accounting system such as ORACLE.
AEX7: Experience in the procurement of goods and services.

Conditions of employment

Willing and able to work overtime.
Willing and able to travel by all modes of transportation, as required within Canada.

As part of this selection process you must provide proof of your education credentials. You will be advised to provide the documents later in the process. If you were educated outside of Canada, you must have your certificates and/or diplomas assessed against Canadian education standards. This will enable you to provide proof of Canadian equivalency when applying for a job in the public service. Random selection may be used.

A top-down screening approach may be undertaken. Only the top ranking candidates may be invited to the assessment phase of the process.

Please note that for candidates applying from outside the public service, the Department will not reimburse travel expenses linked to the assessment process; however, every reasonable effort will be made to minimize travel costs for candidates who will undergo assessment.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
