Duties

The Human Resources (HR) Analytics Officer will play an important role within the Human Resources Directorate as it relates to this newly created data function. This position will provide technical expertise and operational support to PPSC’s data management and reporting requirements. As our Senior Management Team continues to rely on data to make evidence based decisions, the HR Analytics Officer will:

- gather, consolidate and manipulate HR data from multiple sources both internal and external to the public service;
- conduct complex qualitative and quantitative research and analysis to support the development and improvement of HR’s programs, policies, and performance measurement;
- lead the production of workforce and workplace reports, metrics and dashboards and equip HR colleagues with the data they require to lead their respective area of expertise;
- provide specialist advice for the design and implementation of data collection tools and processes;
- and recommend improvements to HR databases.

Work environment

In the current context of the pandemic, the HR team is currently working from home. This means you can apply and if you are successful, telework from any location within Canada! Our regular office accommodations are in Place Bell situated at 160 Elgin Street, an office complex in downtown Ottawa and next to the Rideau Canal and the Rideau Shopping Centre.

The Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC) is a federal government organization responsible for the prosecution of criminal offenses under federal jurisdiction. Our organization consists of approximately 1000 employees in regional offices across the country who all play a key role in strengthening Canada’s criminal justice system. The PPSC handles the prosecution of all Criminal Code offences in the territories as well as offences under all other federal legislation, such as the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and the Fisheries Act.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one (1) position for a duration of one (1) year. The process results could be used to staff similar positions at Public Prosecution Service of Canada with varying tenures, various linguistic profiles and requirements, and with various security requirements.

Education:
- A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
- Advanced* experience using MS Excel.
- Experience in analyzing and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data.
- Experience with data preparation, summarization, reporting and visualizations.

*Advanced skills include: ability to create and format data sheets (input, group, import, add, edit), work with multiple worksheets, advanced charting and formula functions, integrating Excel with other tools (i.e. Power BI, R, Tableau).

Asset Qualifications:
- Graduation from a post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in a field relevant to the position.
- Experience in analyzing and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data in a human resources workforce analysis context.
- Experience in extracting and consolidating information from an HR Management System (i.e. PeopleSoft 8.9).
