Work environment

Why work for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada?

Our department is people-centred. Every day, our work changes lives around the world. We work with Canadian citizens, sponsors, employers and educators. We protect refugees, promote citizenship, facilitate the arrival of immigrants and innovate in the field of passports.

Our individual efforts have a global reach because together, we :
- welcome hundreds of thousands of newcomers every year;
- helping people settle in Canada;
- reuniting families;
- attracting top talent; and
- find new ways to decide who comes to visit, work or stay in Canada.

Our programs help meet the needs of our country. Our work helps Canada become more economically, socially and culturally prosperous.

We help people in Canada and abroad. We bring people together.

Why work with IRCC's Information Management Team?

Information and data are critical assets that enable IRCC employees to help people in Canada and abroad.

Whether it's immigration officers working in embassies abroad, policy and program analysts in Ottawa, or citizenship and immigration officers in offices across Canada, employees can rely on quality information and data to make the right decisions to help meet the needs of our country.

At IRCC, the Information Architecture and Information Management Branch, part of the Digital Transformation and Solutions Sector, is leading initiatives to transform the way we work and deliver services. Over the next few years, these will include rethinking paper-based processes in favour of digitization, adopting electronic approval technologies, implementing a new content services solution to manage our information assets, and rethinking the management of information assets to make better use of data and content analysis and artificial intelligence solutions.

If you are passionate about data and information and how it can be used to make Canada stronger, there is no better time to be part of the IRCC Information Management team.

Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory process. This process could be used to create a pool of candidates, which could be used to staff similar positions at the same or equivalent group and level, with different language profiles, different security profiles, different tenure (indeterminate or term), using various staffing mechanisms at Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada. If a pool is established as a result of this staffing process, all federal departments and agencies listed in Schedules I, IV and V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) will be able to use it to staff similar positions across Canada.
