Intent of the process

A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar or identical positions within Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) with various linguistic profiles (English essential, French or English Essential, BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC) and/or requirement, various locations, as well as tenures (indeterminate, deployment, acting, specified period, assignment, secondment) and/or the security clearance (reliability or secret), which may vary according to the position being staffed.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.

NOTE:

Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCES:

Experience in developing strategic advice for senior management (Director General level or above).

Experience in working collaboratively with government officials or Indigenous stakeholders.

Experience in preparing and managing comprehensive documents related to cabinet, parliamentary, legislative and regulatory proposals intended for senior officials (Director General level or above).

Experience in providing advice on cabinet, parliamentary, legislative or regulatory issues, processes and procedures to multi-disciplinary teams.

Knowledge of federal machinery of government, decision-making processes, the legislative process and/or the regulation making process.

Knowledge of the Government of Canada’s priorities addressing Indigenous and Northern issues.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
(Not essential, but preference may be given to candidates who possess asset qualifications)

Experience in department-wide legislative or regulatory planning.

Experience working with or in a Minister’s or parliamentary-related office (e.g. departmental parliamentary unit/Member of Parliament (MP)/Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA)/Member of the National Assembly (MNA)/Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP)/Senator/Privy Council Office (PCO)/Library of Parliament).

Experience working in Cabinet Affairs.

Experience working on a major legislative or regulatory proposal with a national Indigenous organization.

Experience in supervising staff.

CURRENT AND/OR FUTURE ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS
