Duties

1. Formulating section work plans, prioritizing activities and establishing individual employee assignments; providing input to Directorate budget preparation and controlling expenditures and costs within responsibility area.
2. Identifying the need for detailed professional engineering studies, and conducting or overseeing the conduct of studies by staff or contractors; preparing terms of reference, evaluating tenders and ensuring the product meets the organization’s requirements.
3. Managing a team of professional engineers and geologists. Providing leadership, guidance, direction and training to the team including performing and overseeing staff engineering functions.
4. Providing professional support and advice to First Nations, IOGC senior
management, other ISC/CIRNAC departments and IOGC staff; maintaining effective working relationships with industry representatives and provincial regulatory staff.
5. Providing analysis and recommendations to senior management on emerging issues and opportunities (e.g. potential problem areas; policy clarification needs); developing, recommending and implementing strategies for their resolution.
6. Evaluating, advising on and implementing actions to resolve major issues; negotiating options for resolution with third parties including legal counsel.

Work environment

IOGC is located away from Calgary's downtown core at the west end of Anderson Road on Tsuut'ina First Nation lands.

This is a full-time indeterminate position. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar term and/or indeterminate positions.

EDUCATION:
1. Graduation with a degree from a recognized post secondary institution with a degree in reservoir engineering or other engineering specialty relevant to the position or an acceptable degree in geology with experience in engineering duties.

Degree equivalency

CERTIFICATION:
1. Certification as a professional engineer or geologist in Canada

EXPERIENCE:
1. Extensive progressively responsible oil and gas industry experience. Extensive is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally acquired over a period of seven (7) to ten (10) years.

2. Experience in reservoir engineering, oil and gas field operations and production practices.

3. Experience managing human resources.

INFORMATION ABOUT INDIAN OIL & GAS CANADA:

IOGC is an organization committed to managing and regulating oil and gas resources on First Nation reserve lands. It is a special operating agency within Indigenous Services Canada. IOGC is responsible for the administration of oil and gas resources on First Nation reserve lands across Canada, primarily south of the 60th parallel. Most of IOGC's work is in Western Canada in the area of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin.
