Amendment - CLOSING DATE CHANGED TO OCTOBER 23, 2020.
The Director of Finance and Corporate Services serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), comptroller and corporate services officer for the Agency. As a valued member of the Senior Management team in a small Agency, the Director has the opportunity to lead and provide advice and guidance on a wide-range of interesting files and participates in strategic direction setting and decision making.
Established in August 2009, the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) is the only federal department with an exclusive mandate for the North. It is headquartered in Iqaluit, Nunavut with regional offices in Yellowknife (Northwest Territories), Whitehorse (Yukon) and a liaison office in Ottawa (Ontario). This position is located at CanNor’s headquarters in Iqaluit and it is supported by staff in Iqaluit and Ottawa.
CanNor's vision is to develop a strong, diversified, sustainable and dynamic economy for all northerners and Indigenous peoples across Canada's three Territories. As the smallest of the Government of Canada’s five regional development agencies (approximately 115 staff), CanNor provides a unique opportunity for individuals looking to be part of a small but mighty organization that leverages its nimbleness to tackle some serious, high-profile socio-economic issues.
Please note: We have an immediate need to staff one indeterminate position.
Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement who are found qualified in this staffing process will be appointed ahead of other qualified applicants.
Interchange Canada may also be used as a staffing option***.
*** Note: Interchange Canada is a program that gives people working outside the Government of Canada (for example, employees of Inuit organizations, Government of Nunavut, the private sector etc.) the chance to take a leave from their job on a temporary assignment to work within the federal government. There is no cost to the employee’s organization – the federal government reimburses the employee’s salary and employees maintain their benefits!
