Water sports including boating, fishing, swimming, waterskiing and wakeboarding. Enjoy an afternoon at Kinosoo Beach hiking, cycling, cross-country skiing and horseback riding the Iron Horse, Millennium and African Lake trails.

4 Wing Cold Lake is the busiest fighter base in Canada. It provides general purpose, multi-role, combat capable forces in support of domestic and international roles of Canada's Air Force. Home of fighter pilot training for the Canadian Forces, 4 Wing is known as the Jewel of the Lakeland for its awe inspiring sunsets and occasional northern lights.

Intent of the process

Qualified candidates will be considered for future employment in various General Labourer functions, including similar and lower level positions of various tenures.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

**Depending on the position being staffed, any of the qualifications below may be deemed as an essential qualification “must have” or an asset qualification “nice to have”

Red Seal certification in one of the following areas:
- Automotive Service Technician;
- Heavy Duty Equipment Technician;
- Transport Trailer Technician ; or
- Truck and Transport Mechanic

Experience working as a mechanic in the repair and maintenance of commercial diesel vehicles and/or heavy duty equipment and/or vehicles.

Experience in the operation at least one of the following commercial vehicles:
- Buses (School and/or Highway Cruiser style),
- Cargo trucks,
- Grader,
- Bulldozer
- Front End Loader
- Tractor-Trailer combination vehicles

Experience performing operator inspections and daily maintenance on at least one of the following commercial vehicles:
- Buses (School and/or Highway Cruiser style),
- Cargo trucks,
- Grader,
- Bulldozer
- Front End Loader
- Tractor-Trailer combination vehicles

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

**Depending on the position being staffed, any of the conditions of employment below may be required

- Possession of a valid unrestricted Canadian Class 1 driver’s license with air brake endorsement, Note: Restriction number one (glasses) is not applicable
- Possession of a valid unrestricted & non graduated Canadian Class 5 provincial or territorial driver’s license, Note: Restriction number one (glasses) is not applicable
- Shift work
- Overtime
- Working indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Travel
- Perform long haul tractor trainer assignments
- Maintain and produce a driver’s log book
- Obtain and retain a DND 404
- Wear CSA approved safety footwear and other personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Work from heights
- Standby, call-back schedules
