The intent of this process is to staff the following positions at Crown Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada in Whitehorse, Yukon:
- Program Manager, Contaminated Sites
Although the intent is to staff the position in Whitehorse, Yukon alternative working arrangements including telework or a flexible schedule may be available and will be determined on a case by case basis dependent on operational feasibility at the time of hiring.
A pool of candidates will be established to staff similar or identical position at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) or other federal departments and agencies located in Whitehorse, Yukon with various tenures, linguistic profiles or security requirements.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree (baccalaureate or higher-level degree) from a recognized post-secondary institution OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior management on complex* issues.
- Experience in networking and engaging with various stakeholders to achieve objectives.
- Experience in managing a team.
*Complex is defined as: multidimensional, composed of interconnected or related parts, dealing with matters that are complicated or intricate.
The following criteria are not required for appointment but preference may be given to candidates who possess these qualifications.
EDUCATION:
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with an acceptable specialization in sciences, environment, law, political science, social science or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience managing a budget.
- Experience working in a Northern cross-cultural environment.
- Experience in environmental impact assessments, environmental site assessments, contaminated sites assessments, and/or contaminated sites remediation.
- Experience in networking and engaging with indigenous stakeholders to achieve objectives.
- Significant** experience in managing a team.
**Significant means breadth and depth of experience normally associated with having preformed a broad range of various complex related activities normally acquired over a five year period. The amount, the complexity and the diversity of activities will be taken into consideration.

- Knowledge of Indigenous environmental issues in the North.
- Knowledge of federal legislation and programs dealing with Indigenous and/or environment issues.
ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate orally.
- Ability to communicate in writing.
- Ability to analyze and provide strategic recommendations.
PERSONAL SUITABILITY:
- Create vision and strategy.

KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of policies and legislation guiding the management of contaminated sites.
