Assessment accommodation

Duties

• Conduct field-level and/or on-line inspections and compliance activities in relation to the administration and enforcement of tobacco and vaping legislation. Activities may include compliance promotion, compliance monitoring, seizures, violations ticketing and preparation of briefings and correspondence.
• Provide education and guidance to clients to resolve issues and complaints.
• Prepare reports and data on inspection activities.
• Participation in project teams and working groups as required.
• Travel by car or air to conduct inspections.

Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates (fully assessed or partially assessed) will be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level. This process may be used to staff various positions and tenures (including but not limited to term and indeterminate appointments, internal assignments, secondments, deployments, acting appointments) in the Regulatory Operations and Enforcement Branch.

EDUCATION

• Successful completion of secondary school education or employer-approved alternatives (see Note).

Note:
The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
- A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
- An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

• Experience working in a regulatory environment.
• Experience interpreting legislation, regulations, policies or directives.
• Experience in providing client-service.

Education

• Successful completion of a post-secondary program in a field related to the position OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience (possession of a high school diploma and training/experience in enforcement and/or in an investigative field).

Degree equivalency

Experience

• Experience in the enforcement of legislation, regulations, policies or directives.
• Experience in conducting on-line inspections.
• Experience in conducting on-site inspections.*

* On-site inspections – means place of business.

• Valid driver's license or personal mobility to the degree normally associated with the possession of a valid driver's license.
• Willingness to conduct on-site inspections.
• Willingness to conduct on-line inspections. Must be able to operate and maintain a computer, software and other peripherals.
• Willingness to travel within a region on a regular basis and nationally on occasion.
• Willingness to work overtime on weekends and in the evenings on short notice.
*Candidates must meet and maintain the above conditions of employment throughout their employment in the position.
