Assessment accommodation

When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.

The first intake from this inventory will take place on October 26, 2020, to coincide with the following internal selection process: 20-DIS-BC-IA-374806. If you apply to both processes, you will be assessed only once for qualifications listed and your assessment results will apply for both processes.

The inventory will be updated once every three months. You will receive a notice in your applicant account 15 days before the end of your active period to determine whether or not you wish to keep being considered for an additional three months.

This process is targeted to Aboriginal persons who will self-declare as an Aboriginal person. An Aboriginal person is a North American Indian or a member of a First Nation, Métis or Inuit. North American Indians or members of a First Nation include treaty, status or registered Indians, as well as non-status and non-registered Indians.

*The term “Aboriginal” is used within this job advertisement as it relates to the Employment Equity Act and other legislative frameworks. The term “Indigenous” is used, where feasible, in support of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Candidates as part of this process must self-declare as Aboriginal as the area of selection is limited to Aboriginal peoples ONLY; as such, prior to appointment, hired candidates will have to complete and sign the Affirmation of Aboriginal Affiliation Form (AAAF).

Information on employment equity

When submitting an application to this selection process, you will be prompted to answer text questions concerning the essential qualifications. It is your responsibility to provide clear and concrete examples in your responses to each question, including when (from-to), where (occupational title, organization) and how you obtained these qualifications. Lack of details will result in your application being rejected as the Assessment Board will have insufficient information to determine if the requirement is met. Please note that it is not sufficient to only state that the qualification is met or to provide a listing of current and past responsibilities. Candidates will not be solicited for incomplete or possible missing information.

Your resume will be used as a secondary source of information and must accurately reflect your employment history and support your qualifications. It is therefore inappropriate to only state “refer to resume” in response to screening/text questions.

Indeterminate employees at the same group and level or equivalent who meet the education and experience criteria, may be considered first for an assignment, secondment, or deployment.

Interested persons must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to the position, in a manner determined by the Selection Board.

Depending on the requirements of the position(s) being staffed from this process, for current or future vacancies, any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements, and organizational needs may be applied at the time of staffing. Candidates may be contacted and assessed against these criteria at any time during this process.

A variety of tools and methods may be used to assess candidates, such as written exams, interviews, references checks, recent and past performance evaluations. In addition, all information obtained throughout the selection process, from the time of application to close of process, will be used to evaluate the candidates.

All communication relating to this process, including email correspondence, telephone conversations, and video conferencing may be used on the assessment of qualifications.

Top down and/or random selection may be used to identify which applicants will be assessed or appointed in this appointment process.

Our intention is to communicate with candidates via email. Applicants should check their email account regularly as there may be new communication regarding this selection process or a timeline for responses. Candidates who apply on this selection process must include in their application a valid email address and ensure that this address is
functional at all times and accepts messages from unknown users (some email systems block these types of email).

You will be required to provide proof of education credentials in the form of a diploma or official transcript at the interview stage. Candidates with foreign credentials must provide proof of Canadian equivalency. Please contact the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials for further information at http://www.cicic.ca/.

Note that full-time teleworking from home where the candidate resides in Canada could be considered as an option with approval of the local Manager, depending on the position being staffed.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.

Information on the preference to veterans

We thank all those who apply. Only those selected for further consideration will be contacted.
