Health Canada’s Public Service Occupational Health Program (PSOHP) is looking for Medical Office Assistants / Senior Program Supports for various cities across Canada. There are currently CR-05 vacancies in Edmonton and Victoria, as well as, anticipatory vacancies in Vancouver and Montreal. CR-05 positions in Halifax, Moncton, St. John’s, Quebec City, Toronto, Kingston, Winnipeg, Calgary and Regina could become available at any time.

Duties

What will you be doing?

• Provide medical office administration, including management of the clinic appointment schedule, for the occupational health medical evaluations and related testing of federal workers, such as, border services officers, correctional officers, healthcare workers, and scientific-field personnel
• Provide medical office administrative support for Nurse Practitioners, Occupational Health Medical Officers, Occupational Health Nurses and Managers
• Review forms and documents to ensure compliance with procedures and policies for accuracy and completeness. Conduct follow-up as needed with other federal departments, clients, and external medical service providers
• Work with and maintain hard copy and electronic medical files
• Maintain, coordinate, track and verify data processing, including the transition to and maintenance of electronic medical records and the program’s health information system
• Provide client service and guidance; and respond to questions concerning the program’s occupational health medical services, requirements and policies
• Prepare reports with ongoing quality control and improvements
• Processing and verification of medical invoices from outside medical services

• Successful completion of two years of secondary school;
• A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to two years of secondary school; or,

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

• * Recent experience working as a Medical Office Assistant in a medical clinic or medical office
• Experience maintaining a records management system
• Experience working with and handling sensitive information

*Recent experience is defined as at least one (1) year of experience acquired within the last five (5) years
