In the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) of Indigenous Services Canada, we strive to provide access to quality health services, improve health outcomes, and support greater control of the health system by First Nations and Inuit.
As a Program Manager with First Nations and Inuit Health Branch in Alberta Region, you will be exposed to a fast-paced environment with a diverse array of challenges, learning opportunities, experiences, projects, cultures and personalities. We are searching for collaborative and strategic individuals who enjoy working in a dynamic and energetic environment, with a strong focus on quality client service. We are currently looking to staff positions that will be primarily involved in the planning, development, delivery and management of administrative and federal government policies, programs, services or other activities directed to the public. By joining our team, you will have opportunity to provide direct support to health services and community based programming. You will build and support strong working relationships with First Nations and Inuit communities, families, and individuals, with a focus on improving health outcomes and reducing health risks. Our office is located in Canada Place at 9700 Jasper Avenue in Edmonton, Alberta. Our workplace is in close proximity to Churchill Square, the river valley and many restaurants. It has several bus and LRT stops close by, as well as parking lots in the vicinity, which makes it easy to get to and from work.

This process will be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates which may be used to staff positions in various locations, with various linguistic profiles, for various tenures such as indeterminate, term, secondment, assignment, deployment or acting appointments.
The intent is to staff this position via the Aboriginal Peoples Employment Program, which aims to strategically increase Indigenous representation within the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch. As such, Organizational Needs may be applied and first consideration may be given to candidates self-identifying as belonging to Indigenous peoples.

• Experience working with Indigenous people or organisations, such as working for a First Nation Band Office, tribal council or Indigenous-led program.
• Experience working with community-based organisations involved in the delivery of health and/or social and/or education programs.
• Experience in managing health programs and/or services.
• Experience creating or working with or managing federal or provincial government Contribution Agreements or Funding Arrangements or Grants.
• Experience providing strategic advice and recommendations to management.
• Experience working with health or social or education programs or services available to Indigenous peoples.
Competency:
• Ability to speak an Indigenous language.

Operational Requirements:
• Willingness and ability to work overtime or extended hours.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively to Indigenous communities on a regular basis, including flying in small aircraft to remote locations and/or lengthy vehicle travel. Some occasional national travel may also be required.
Note: On occasion, travel may require being away from home for more than a few days a week.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
