ABOUT THE JOB
The key activities related to this position include defining, documenting, developing, delivering, monitoring and evaluating regional occupational health and safety (OHS) policies, programs and strategies to reduce health and safety risks and workplace hazards.

The intent of the process is to staff one (1) position on an indeterminate basis. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and used to fill similar positions with various tenures, security profiles and linguistic requirements within Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

Education:
A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.
Notes:
1. The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
o A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
o An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience
E1. Experience in developing health and safety policy instruments.
E2. Experience in managing activities related to an occupational health and safety (OHS) program
E3. Experience in developing or delivering training materials
E4. Experience in providing occupational health and safety (OHS) advice and guidance to managers, national/regional or workplace OHS committees or OHS representatives***
*** Note: Experience limited to participating to OHS committee meetings, as a member, will not be sufficient
Education:
Diploma or Certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution in Occupational Health and Safety or a Certificate, Accreditation or Designation in safety management, such as the Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) Designation.
Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)
Information on language requirements
Knowledge
K1. Knowledge of Part II of the Canada Labour Code and other regulations governing OHS
K2. Knowledge of accident investigation and inspection protocols
