This process will be used to fill 1 SE-RES position on an indeterminate basis.
A pool of (fully or partially) qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada (with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), various linguistic requirements (indicate the possible staffing methods (imperative and/or non-imperative), language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.)), various security requirements (indicate the appropriate requirements), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

A covering letter in 3,500 words (maximum) "Candidates must submit a cover letter which clearly demonstrates how they meet each of the screening criteria (i.e. essential education and experience qualifications). For the experience criteria, please note that it is not sufficient to only state that the qualification is met or to provide a listing of current or past responsibilities. The candidate must provide concrete examples to demonstrate that the qualification is met. Graduation with an acceptable doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field of natural sciences in one of the specializations* listed below or other specialization related to the duties of the position, or the employer-approved alternative for the SE classification. Note:
1. The employer-approved alternative for the SE classification is an acceptable master's or bachelor's degree coupled with acceptable research, training and experience. The degree must be from a recognized post-secondary institution and in scientific fields and specialties related to the duties of the position. The training and experience must clearly demonstrate the ability to do personal research of doctoral degree calibre.
Productivity/Recognition
Productivity or recognition includes developmental work leading to the issue of patents, copyrights, or the creation of improved varieties, functions, or designs, and/or recognition by the professional community in the research environment. It also refers to recognized achievement in the form of authorship and editorship of published or unpublished reports, books, papers, or other communications resulting from:
• Research, experimental development, or tasking associated with operational equipment and problems;
• Operational research and scientific analysis; and,
• Planning, analysis and evaluation of Canadian and foreign programs in research and development.
Experience in developing, coordinating, supervising, and conducting research.
Experience in the implementation and interpretation of regional or local environmental or exploration geochemical studies.
Experience in using geographic information systems and/or statistical data analysis tools.

Knowledge of mineral exploration methods involving geochemistry used in Canada

AEx1: Experience with multiple knowledge systems bridging geoscience and Indigenous and traditional knowledge.
AEx2: Experience in conducting, interpreting data from and preparing written reports on, regional or local geochemical surveys in temperate or cold regions.
AEx3: Experience using state-of-the-art portable geochemical and/or mineralogical instruments.
AEx4: Significant* work experience in the field of exploration or environmental geochemistry.
* Significant is defined as approximately 3 years of experience within the last 6 years.
AK1: Knowledge of statistical data analysis and display, and spatial data analysis and presentation methods.
