Assessment accommodation

**IMPORTANT INFORMATION**

Our current need is to create an anticipatory pool of qualified candidates, some of whom may work on COVID-19 contact tracing. This pool will be used dependent on the volume of work and additional support required as the pandemic continues; it may also be used for survey work unrelated to the pandemic.

Statistical Survey Operations (SSO) is not subject to the Public Service Employment Act (PSEA) and handles its own recruitment. For this reason, SSO uses a different staffing process and its terminology may not be the same.

Assessments will begin on September 7, 2020, therefore we strongly encourage any interested candidates to apply right now!

Duties

Statistical Survey Operations (SSO) is Statistics Canada’s survey collection operation. SSO employs thousands of Interviewers across Canada. SSO Interviewers conduct over 2.5 million interviews with Canadians every year. The success of Statistics Canada’s surveys is due in large part to the trust Canadians place in our Interviewers. Statistics Canada’s commitment to Canadians’ confidentiality, privacy and secrecy is the cornerstone of our success with the public. It is central to the work we do.

Statistics Canada is also working with provincial and territorial governments to respond to COVID-19. In addition to regular survey work, some SSO Interviewers may be asked to help in the following areas:
1. Case tracking and contact tracing;
2. Case data collection and reporting.

Work environment

Here is what we can offer you:
√ A respectful work environment
√ A competitive starting hourly pay rate plus premiums where applicable (second language, evenings and weekends)
√ Engaging and meaningful work assignments that benefit your community
√ A variable part-time shift-work schedule
√ Eligibility for generous Public Service benefits (e.g. pension, health, dental and other applicable benefits)

During the current pandemic, employees are required to work remotely from home. Employees may return to the workplace in the future. Telework is a part of a flexible work arrangement that may be continued.
