The intent of this selection process is to create a pool of qualified candidates to be used to staff these or similar positions within Fisheries and Oceans Canada. A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff these positions and/or similar positions on an indeterminate, specified period (term), acting, secondment/assignment, or deployment basis. Please note that there is an immediate need to staff 1 position located in St. John’s, NL.

Your résumé.
Successful completion of a post-secondary diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or other related technical discipline from a recognized institution or an acceptable combination* of education, training and/or experience.
*Acceptable combination is defined as:
Two years of post-secondary education and training in any field that relates to the position.
OR
one year of post-secondary education in a civil engineering technical field with a minimum of one years' experience in a civil engineering technical field.
Experience
E1: Recent experience* in inspecting and evaluating the condition of facilities.
E2: Recent experience* in preparing tender packages.
E3: Recent experience* in the design of structures.
E4: Recent experience* in conducting construction site inspections and monitoring contractor progress to ensure compliance with the requirements.
*Recent Experience: within the last 2 years.

Knowledge
K1: Knowledge of cost estimation methods.
K2: Knowledge of occupational health and safety issues as they relate to asset condition inspections and construction practices.

Asset Qualifications
AEX1: Experience in preparing construction and planning drawings using design software such as AutoCAD, Eagle Point, Civil 3D, Bentley InRoads or other three dimensional software packages.
Asset Knowledge
AK1: Knowledge of codes, standards, and specifications related to marine construction.
Operational Requirements
1. Work evenings and weekends as required, sometimes on short noticed.
2. Travel as required, via automobile, aircraft and/or boat.
3. Travel to remote locations.
4. Work in a marine environment.
Reliability Status security clearance
Possession of a valid driver's license.
