The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers. DND's role is to provide services and support to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in their operations and missions at home and abroad.
The intent of this process is to staff various casual positions. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions. Casual employment is a temporary form of employment for a maximum of 90 working days per department in a calendar year. A casual worker may not apply to internal job opportunities.

EXPERIENCE
Experience providing general labour services performing one or more of the following:
a. Assisting skilled tradespersons
b. Loading/unloading, and/or moving work materials
c. Using a variety of hand tools and/or power tools and/or equipment
d. Performing grounds maintenance services, such as, but not limited to, grass cutting, raking, trimming trees, snow shoveling
ABILITIES
Ability to communicate effectively orally.

ASSET EXPERIENCE
Experience working with tractors and or skid steers.
Experience working with asphalt or concrete repairs.
Experience working in a greenhouse or landscaping.
Experience working with chain link fence/gate installation/repairs.
Experience with integrated pest management.
Possession of a valid pesticide license.
WHMIS training.
• Willing and able to work overtime during peak periods.
• Willing and able to work in extreme conditions.
• Willing and able to work in confined spaces.
• Willing and able to work shifts.
• Willing and able to work in an environment with noxious fumes.
• May be required to obtain and maintain a DND 404 driving permit
• Possession of a valid and unrestricted Class 5 Driver’s Licence or provincial/territorial equivalent.

• Possession of a valid and unrestricted Class 5 Driver’s Licence or provincial/territorial equivalent.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs to waist height repeatedly.
• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
