Technical and Maintenance Services provides internal consulting services to sectors within Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) for the maintenance and repair of systems (including elevators, sprinklers, furnaces, electrical systems, etc.) and buildings in order to ensure their efficiency, maintain their integrity, and to ensure compliance to federal laws, standards and codes.
The main duties of the position include:
- Inspect various mechanical(stream 1) or electrical (stream 2) building systems
- Estimate the replacement cost of mechanical(stream1) or electrical( stream 2) components
- Produce technical reports
- Review plans for minor projects
- Prepare plans and specifications for minor projects (occasionally)

Experience:
Stream 1 : Mechanical
EXP 1 : Experience in reviewing technical documents for leases or construction projects
EXP 2 : Experience in providing technical, operational and maintenance advisory services in office and commercial buildings, updating maintenance specifications, and the use of a preventive maintenance system.
EXP 3 : Experience in verifying compliance with laws, codes and standards for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of mechanical building systems. (ex: halocarbons, legionella)
Stream 2 : Electricity
EXP 4 : Experience in delivering technical advice on issues concerning electrical building systems
EXP 5 : Experience in conducting technical surveys of electrical systems and recommending any necessary corrective measures.
*Recent means approximately three years within the last five.
Knowledge:
Stream 1 : Mechanical
CO1 - Knowledge of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems in buildings and associated equipment
CO2 - Knowledge of policies and guidelines that apply to operation and maintenance of facilities
Stream 2 : Electricity
CO3 – Knowledge of the codes governing electricity
CO4 - Knowledge of concepts related to electrical installations found in buildings.
Abilities:

AS1 -Experience in project management
AS2 - Successful completion of a two (2) year post-secondary diploma program as an Electrical/Electronic Technician, Building Systems Technology or another related field from a recognized Canadian education institution
AS3 - College diploma (DSC) or attestation (ACS) from a recognized Canadian education institution in electrical or electronic engineering technology or building system technology or in a field relevant to the position
AS4 -Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) in electricity
AS5 - Design experience in building electrical systems
AS6 – Design experience in HVAC systems
AS7 - Electricity certificate, recognized by Emploi Québec
AS8 - Electricity Competency Card recognized by the CCQ
AS9 – Switchgear connection certificate
AS10 - Piping certificate
AS11- Plumbing certificate
AS12- Heating certificate
AS13- Mechanical engineering certificate
AS14- ASP Construction card on construction site safety.
Security clearance : Reliability check
Hold a valid driver’s licence.
Be willing and able to work overtime on short notice
