The duties of the position mainly involve performing maintenance and repair work on the building’s refrigeration equipment and systems, computer rooms, air conditioning systems, cold rooms, spare equipment parts and, when required, the client’s equipment.
The position involves maintaining and repairing refrigeration and ventilation equipment and systems and spare equipment parts for PSPC or a client department, including:
• Checking, maintaining, repairing, installing refrigeration and air conditioning systems, cold rooms, ventilation and heating systems and, when required, the client’s refrigeration units.
• Occasionally installing and adjust refrigeration and air conditioning systems, cold rooms, ventilation and heating systems and, when required, the client’s refrigeration units.
• Applying and following up on halocarbon management procedures.
• Updating the inventory of materials and tools needed for the work, obtaining bids from suppliers, and preparing orders for parts required for the maintenance and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and systems.
• Occasionally estimating costs for some of the work and preparing reports.
• Updating installation documentation: builder’s file, installation plans (chillers, distribution circuits, electrical supply, regulation, etc.) and history of interventions (recent changes, incidents, etc.).
• Setting and modifying mechanical and electronic devices to optimize energy consumption.
• Checking and monitoring contractors’ occasionally work to ensure it meets standards, and obtaining the information required to maintain new systems and equipment.
• Reading and interpreting plans and specifications

Ste-Flavie: More specifically, this position is located at the Maurice-Lamontagne Institute in Ste-Flavie, Quebec, in the magnificent Bas-du-Fleuve region bordering the St. Lawrence estuary. So you will find in this region an environment conducive to outdoor activities and friendly people.
The Maurice-Lamontagne Institute (MLI) is part of a network of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) research centres. Inaugurated in 1987, it is one of the world’s major francophone marine sciences centres.
It employs some 300 people in two large sectors: ocean science and aquatic ecosystems management.
The mission of multidisciplinary teams is to provide the federal government with a thorough scientific basis for the conservation and sustainable management of marine resources and aquatic ecosystems, marine environment protection and safe navigation.
The main activity area covers the Estuary and Gulf of St.Lawrence, the Saguenay Fjord, Hudson Bay and Hudson Strait; some activities, aimed at the protection of fisheries and aquatic species at risk, cover Quebec’s freshwater ecosystems.
The station technicians have the opportunity to work on extraordinary equipment such as sea water pumps, refrigeration rooms at specific temperatures, water basin rooms, etc.
Quebec city: More specifically, this position is located in Old Quebec, at the Coast Guard Base.
Some 500 people work there in three main activity sectors: Maintenance of equipment for navigation, search and rescue and the environment.
The station technicians have the opportunity to work on extraordinary equipment such as NOVEC gas fire protection systems, equipment for server rooms at specific temperatures, equipment for buoy repair shops, boats, etc.
Establish a pool of qualified candidates to staff positions with permanent or temporary tenures and various security profiles for our offices in Quebec city and Sainte-Flavie.

EDUCATION
Secondary School Diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Hold a valid pipefitting certificate, with a specialization in refrigeration, issued by the province of Quebec or a valid journeyman refrigeration technician competency certificate issued by the Commission de la Construction du Québec (CCQ).
EXPERIENCE
Recent* and significant** experience (see Note 1) in the maintenance, testing, operating and repair of the air conditioning, refrigeration and ventilation systems of office, commercial, institutional or government buildings.
Note 1: Experience limited to residential facilities does not count.
*Recent means in the last five (5)years.
** Significant means approximately three (3) years.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and understanding of ASHRAE standards.
Knowledge of Siemens building automation systems.
Hold HRAI certification.
•Security clearance : Various security clearance: Reliability Status and conditional employment with the obtention of a security clearance from the client
•Valid driver’s licence
•Wear required clothing, shoes and safety equipment
•Availability to work on call.
•Be available to work overtime on short notice
•Be available according to the rotation schedule established with other technicians for service calls outside normal business hours.
