We are looking for individuals with strong leadership skills and problem solving abilities to lead our administrative teams. Your specific role may vary, but you will engage with internal and/or external clients, providing guidance on interpreting and applying policies and procedures and leading complex administrative, HR and/or financial tasks. This process is being used initially to staff temporary positions with the possibility of them becoming indeterminate appointments in the future. Positions will be located in Nanaimo and Sidney, BC. A pool will be created for staffing of similar positions of various tenures in various locations at Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
This process may be used for staffing of lower level positions.

• A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training or experience.
Depending on the position to be staffed, any of the following qualifications may also be deemed as an essential qualification and only candidates and persons with a priority entitlement who possess those qualifications will be considered for that specific vacancy.
• Successful completion of post secondary program or courses with specialization in business administration or another field relevant to the position.
• Experience in supervision or in leading teams
• Experience in managing an executive or professional office
• Experience working with Government systems such as SMIS, HRG, Abacus, GcDocs, EKME, PeopleSoft, and/or SAP
• Experience using a correspondence tracking system.

Information on language requirements
In order to meet the essential qualifications for AS-02 positions, candidates must meet all of the essential Experience qualifications for the applicable stream in order to be appointed to the position.
Experience (AS-02) Executive Assistant Stream 1:
• Experience organizing travel arrangements, including preparing and/or verifying travel claims
• Experience scheduling and coordinating meetings and preparing minutes
• Experience in scheduling and coordinating a manager’s calendar
• Experience editing, drafting, and verifying correspondence or reports
Experience (AS-02) Administrative Officer Stream 2:
• Experience interpreting and applying polices and/or procedures
• Experience in providing financial support services: such as budget management, contracting, procurement services, materiel management, or salary management
• Experience compiling financial information and providing recommendations to management
• Experience in providing Human Resource support services, such as staffing, employee relations, or pay compensation
