EDUCATION
Graduation with an acceptable doctoral degree from a recognized university in a field of the natural sciences related to the duties of the position (such as fish or wildlife biology, ecology, environmental science, or toxicology) or an employer-approved alternative*.

*The employer-approved alternative is an acceptable Master’s degree coupled with demonstrated research, application, or training. The degree must be from a recognized university and in a field of relevance to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience
- Significant* experience in managing multi-disciplinary scientific teams.
- Significant* experience in managing human** and financial resources***.
- Significant* experience in establishing or maintaining effective partnerships or collaborative programs with key internal and external stakeholders, including governments, industry or academia.
- Experience in providing science, policy or management advice and recommendations to senior management.

*Significant is defined as depth and breadth typically associated with having carried out these activities on a regular basis over a period of three years or more, but not necessarily continuously over the last six years.

**Human resource management may include planning, directing and coordinating activities related to the recruitment, performance and talent management, and learning and development of employees. Applicants must indicate the number of employees they have supervised.

***Financial resources management may include managing and being accountable for a budget, resource management and forecasting, planning, budget allocation and tracking of expenditures. Applicants must indicate the dollar value of budgets they have managed.
