The process intent is to fill one geomatics technician positions for a period of 12 months with the possibility of extension. A pool of qualified candidates will be created to staff similar or identical positions with various tenures, linguistic profiles and security requirements within the Canadian Coast Guard in Quebec city.

Collegial Study Diploma in Geomatics, Geodesy, or a University degree in Geomatics.
EXPERIENCE:
1- Field experience in the field of surveying. (one year minimum)
2- Experience in handling surveying equipment. (GPS, Total Station and level)
3- Experience in field data processing with specialized software.
4- Supervisory experience for field work.

Information on language requirements
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of topographic surveys or geodesy involving the use of different tools in these particular fields (GPS, Total Station and Level).
- Knowledge in the processing of field data (topographic, GPS) with specialized software.
- Knowledge of GPS positioning modes.
- Knowledge of reference systems used in altimetry and planimetry.
ABILITIES:
- Ability to supervise a survey team.
- Ability to detect and analyze problems and develop solutions.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally.

Experience in motorboat handling and/or navigation on the water.
KNOWLEDGE:
1- Knowledge of the various programs of the Department.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
1- Have a valid class 5 driver’s licence.
2- Valid medical examination according to the position to be filled.
3- Must be willing to travel by various modes of transportation.
4- To be willing to work overtime.
5- Ability climb towers up to 100 feet in height.
