Intent of the process

This process will initially be used to fill 1 BBB/BBB position on an indeterminate basis in Ottawa, Ontario.

Although the immediate intent of this poster will be to fill the above position, applicants should be aware that this selection process may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level or equivalent group and levels with various linguistic profiles and security requirements, conditions of employment for various future permanent and/or temporary vacancies within the Public Health Agency of Canada. As a result of the potential and possible use of the selection process and subsequent pool by hiring managers, we encourage all employees seeking this type of position and/or group and level to apply.

All federal organizations listed in Schedules I, IV and V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) may use this selection process to appoint a candidate to its organization in a similar position.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.

Notes: Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

**Candidates with non-Canadian educational credentials will be required to demonstrate Canadian equivalency for ALL degrees obtained outside of Canada if they are to be used for the purpose of this process.

Degree equivalency

Experience developing briefing materials and/or policy briefs intended for government or other policy audiences

Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders external to their immediate work group (e.g. other work groups within the organization, other federal government departments, provincial/territorial governments, academic institutions, international stakeholders, and/or non-governmental organizations) to develop or coordinate policy positions, advice, strategies or frameworks.

Education
Successful completion of a Master's degree or a PhD from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in epidemiology, public health, statistics, health sciences and/or another specialization relevant to the position being staffed.

Degree equivalency

Experience working in the area of sexual health and/or sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections education or within a community-based setting

Experience working with people with lived or living experience of sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections

Significant* experience in synthesizing technical information, and in writing and editing technical reports.

Experience developing performance measurement strategies and/or developing indicators and associated measurement tools

Significant* experience analyzing complex public health policy issues, developing strategic options and recommendations.

*Significant is defined as having the depth and breadth of experience normally acquired over a period of 3 years.
* Senior management is defined as director level or higher.
