Intent of the process

The intent of the process is to staff positions at the Canadian Coast Guard College in Sydney, NS. Should there be an insufficient number of qualified applicants, virtual working arrangements from various locations across Canada may be considered when feasible.

This is an anticipatory process. A pool of qualified candidates will be created and may be used to staff similar positions with various linguistic requirements, security requirements, conditions of employment, work locations and/or tenures at the ED-EDS-02 group and level within the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Canadian Coast Guard.

Education (Both Streams)
Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in Education or a field related to curriculum development or instructional design.

Degree equivalency

Experience (Both Streams)
Significant* experience in curriculum and/or instructional design.
Significant* experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed related duties for approximately 5 years.

Experience (Curriculum Developer STREAM 1):
Experience developing and creating content for new/proposed courses using relevant approaches.
Experience creating and developing learning materials including lesson plans and supporting materials that include activities tailored to the needs of the learner group.
Experience developing guides and delivering curriculum development workshops and training sessions for instructors.
Experience developing and maintaining course material for various synchronous and asynchronous delivery methods.
Experience in creating validation/assessment methods to measure learning attainment of course objectives.

Experience (Instructional Designer STREAM 2):
Experience designing educational material for on-line delivery.
Experience in analyzing and identifying processes for the design, development, and delivery of learner-focused learning products.
Experience in the design of assessment tools to validate the appropriateness of course material and delivery methods in relation to intended learning groups, ensuring learning objectives and required competencies are being met.
Experience in developing and delivering training material and workshops on on-line learning for instructors or students.
