Casual workers are hired for specified periods that may not exceed 90 working days in one calendar year, in a department or in an agency to which the Public Service Commission (PSC) has exclusive authority to make appointments. Work environment

The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer is commonly known as Elections Canada. It is an independent, non-partisan agency that reports directly to Parliament. Our primary mandate is to be prepared to conduct a federal general election, by-election or referendum. Our mandate also includes many other activities such as administering the political financing provisions of the Act, conducting public information campaigns, carry out studies on alternative voting methods and much more.

An inventory of casual opportunities will be established and could be used to fill short-term opportunities within the department in the National Capital Region.

These opportunities may require language requirements, operational requirements, employment conditions and / or different workplaces.

Q. How do you conduct your searches from this inventory?
A. Searches are conducted based on your group/level of interest, and then your resume is reviewed to determine if you meet the experience.

A. As a means to manage high volumes we may use random selection.

Q. Will an interview be conducted?
A. Yes, an interview will always be conducted. Since this is for casual opportunities and not for an appointment, the interview may be informal in nature and not based on specific merit criteria.

A. Yes, you should be ready to provide references from supervisors, clients and/or subordinates.

Q. Where are your offices located?
A. Our offices are in Ottawa and Gatineau.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
