Intent of the process

ANTICIPATORY. A pool of qualified candidates may be created which may be used to staff identical or similar positions with various language requirements and profiles (English Essential, French Essential or Bilingual imperative (BBB/BBB) (CBC/CBC)), security requirements and/or tenures (indeterminate, specified period, assignment/secondment, acting appointment and extension of acting appointment), within Environment and Climate Change Canada in the National Capital Region.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
ED1: Graduation with a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the duties of the position.

* The term "degree" refers to a baccalaureate or a higher level degree, as established by educational authorities.

Note:
The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
EX1: Experience in developing strategies to manage risks associated with chemicals or pollutants; or in developing, administering or complying with regulations or tools to manage those risk.
EX2: Significant experience** in gathering, analyzing and presenting scientific information related to environmental issues.
EX3: Experience in leading or working within multi-disciplinary teams regarding the implementation or coordination of environmental programs.
EX4: Experience in consulting, engaging or collaborating on environmental or scientific issues with a wide range of stakeholders.
EX5: Significant experience** in writing reports and making recommendations to management or different audiences on environmental issues.

**Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of the experience associated with having performed a broad range of work-related activities which is normally acquired over a period of three (3) or more years.

Asset Education:
AED1: Advanced degree (Masters, Doctorate) from a recognized post-secondary institution in a specialization relevant to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

Asset Experience:
AEX1: Experience in providing strategic policy or program advice to management on environmental or scientific issues.
AEX2: Experience with bilateral or multilateral international environmental agreements.
AEX3: Experience in preparing terms of reference, reviewing proposals, or managing contracts or projects.
AEX4:Experience in performance measurement or in the analysis of program activities and results.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Willing and able to travel within Canada and internationally.
Willing and able to work overtime on short notice.
