An Emergency Readiness and Response Coordinator is someone who works to plan ahead for emergency situations and manage responses when they occur. Their primary focus is working with key stakeholders to prevent and prepare for potential emergency situations. The nature of the work is predominately office based. You'll spend the vast majority of your time reviewing information and data, to effectively evaluate business continuity plans and/or emergency management plans for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Nova Scotia. You'll also work to draft new plans that follow clear, concise guidelines and steps in order to ensure that if an emergency situation occurs, everyone is ready to deal with it effectively.
This selection process will initially be used to staff one vacant permanent position. A pool of qualified candidates inclusive of Public Service (PS) employees and Civilian Members (CM); may be established through this process to staff identical or similar AS-04/SPS-ADM-04 positions on a temporary or permanent full-time basis.
Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

EXPERIENCE:
Significant* and recent** experience in at least one of the following areas:
A) Conducting, analyzing AND evaluating Emergency Management Planning.
B) Conducting, analyzing AND evaluating Business Continuity Planning.
Experience in providing strategic advice to clients on developing OR implementing Business Continuity Planning OR Emergency Management Planning.
Significant* and recent** experience in drafting reports, briefings OR presentations on issues involving Business Continuity Planning OR Emergency Management Planning.
Recent** experience representing an organization's interests on interdepartmental or intradepartmental committees or teams.
*Significant is defined as a depth and breadth of experience normally acquired with having performed a broad range of complex related activities for a period of two (2) continuous years. Complex is defined as activities involving multiple sub-issues or related issues, multiple stakeholders, critical timelines, a high degree of visibility and/or political sensitivity, or having a major impact on the department, government, and/or the public.
**Recent is defined as duties being performed within the last five years.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree* and/or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution** in emergency management, business continuity planning or other related fields.
*Degree: A minimum of a baccalaureate, as established by educational authorities.
** Recognized Post-Secondary Institution: Public or private institution that has been given authority to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of a provincial/territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism. For greater certainty, also included are institutions authorized to grant specific academic credentials for specific academic programs.
Recent** experience in at least one of the following areas:
A) Developing and/or managing the strategic integration of Emergency Management Planning.
B) Developing and/or managing the strategic integration of Business Continuity Planning.
