A Junior Economist and Policy Analyst at FedDev Ontario undertakes a wide variety of activities ranging from detailed quantitative research to analyses of the southern Ontario economic and policy environment. Our analysts work closely with colleagues across the Agency and help to shape and support program delivery and design, as well as grow stakeholder relations and work with other regional and federal partners.

A pool will be established as a result of this process and may be used to fill similar positions with various tenures (Acting, Assignment, Deployment, Indeterminate, Secondment, Specified Period), language requirements and security profiles in various locations within the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.

EDUCATION:
Graduation by September 2020, with a degree* from a recognized postsecondary institution with an acceptable specialization** in Economics,
Sociology, or Statistics. Note: *Degree: The term “degree” refers to a baccalaureate as established by educational authorities.
**The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
EXPERIENCE:
EX1: Experience preparing quantitative research and analysis in one or more of the following areas:
1. industrial economic performance
2. international trade performance
3. labour market performance
4. Macroeconomic analysis
EX2: Experience using analytical tools such as excel, statistical analysis software, or web or computer programming languages

AEX1: Experience using Stata, R, or MATLAB
AEX2: Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud

Top down and/or random selection may be used during any stage of the selection process.
The Selection Committee reserves the right to contact references other than those provided by the candidates (within the Public Service only), if found necessary, in order to adequately assess the candidates.
Proof of education will be required. Candidates will be asked to provide their proof of education at the interview stage.
Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
