Intent of the process

The intention of this process is to fill one indeterminate position of Manager, Media Relations and one indeterminate position of Manager, Social Media. However, a pool of qualified candidates would be established to fill positions at Transport Canada.

EXPERIENCE

STREAMS 1 AND 2
• Recent* experience managing sensitive communications files, media issues or complex government-wide initiatives
• Recent* and significant** experience providing strategic communications advice and recommendations to senior management (director level or higher)
• Experience in managing financial and human resources***

STREAM 1 ONLY
• Recent* experience providing and overseeing operational support for media relations and media monitoring
• Recent* and significant** experience in media relations including responding to media enquiries; and- acting as spokesperson for an organization

STREAM 2 ONLY
• Recent* experience providing and overseeing operational support for social media
• Recent* and significant** experience in managing social media channels for an entire organization or in a Government of Canada context

*Recent experience is defined as experience acquired in the last three (3) years.
**Significant experience is defined as having performed a broad range of various and complex activities over a consecutive two (2) year period in a related field. Candidates have to provide clear and specific examples in their application.
*** Regarding experience in managing human resources: applicants must clearly demonstrate that they have supervised staff, assigned work and managed and assessed performance. Applicants must also indicate the number of employees they supervised directly.
