Duties

The successful candidate will provide general administrative support to the division’s two Directors and their teams. The following are a few examples of tasks that can be expected on the job:
- Making on-boarding arrangements for new employees;
- Responding to individual inquiries from division employees: IT inquiries, voice mail reset, desk accommodations, travel arrangements, etc.;
- Preparing invoices for e-signature and payment;
- Preparing documents for e-approval, including proofreading and making necessary corrections in both official languages.

Work environment

The Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC) is a federal government organization responsible for the prosecution of criminal offenses under federal jurisdiction. Our organization consists of approximately 1000 employees in regional offices across the country who all play a key role in strengthening Canada’s criminal justice system. The PPSC handles the prosecution of all Criminal Code offences in the territories as well as offences under all other federal legislation, such as the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and the Fisheries Act.

In the current context of the pandemic, most of us are working from home. Our regular office accommodations are in Place Bell situated at 160 Elgin Street, an office complex in downtown Ottawa and next to the Rideau Canal and the Rideau Shopping Centre. This location offers easy access to restaurants, fitness facilities, walking/running paths and parks. We are conveniently located close to major bus routes and the LRT, making it easy to commute from all points across the city.

As a part of the human resources community, you will work in a collaborative environment with passionate, enthusiastic and innovative colleagues in the Human Resources Directorate. We are committed to and accountable for providing leadership, subject matter expertise and proactive management of human resources services for our clients delivered through interdisciplinary expert teams working together.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one (1) position for a duration of six (6) months. The process results could be used to staff similar positions at Public Prosecution Service of Canada with varying tenures, various linguistic profiles and requirements, and with various security requirements.

Education:
- Successful completion of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
- Experience providing administrative support services to a management team.
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PDF viewing and manipulation software (such as Adobe, Foxit, Nitro, etc.).

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Asset Qualifications - Experience:
- Experience processing invoices for payment.
- Experience preparing documents for e-signatures using Adobe, Foxit, or similar software.
- Experience using CCM Enterprise or other Government of Canada document tracking system.
- Experience making business travel arrangements.
