Work environment

PTSS requires an experienced security system administrator who is able to make use of experiences in the field to better handle daily in-person, email and telephone call requests.

This can be a stressful work environment as the workload can be demanding when clients’ requests have short diary dates and other staff may not be available to assist as they are required to work in the field.

The right candidate will work alongside another system administrator and remotely with technical staff located in the field.

There will be no teleworking for this position.

The work location is in Surrey, B.C. Monthly paid parking on site is very limited and there is a waiting list that is 3 years long. RCMP E Division Headquarters is located within proximity of SkyTrain and bus services.

The position provides services at the work location during emergencies and is categorized by the employer as critical services.

Intent of the process

The anticipated intent/result of this process is to indeterminately staff (on a full time basis) one position.

A qualified pool will be established and may be used for future permanent or temporary vacancies.

- Certification in commercial grade electronic access control or intrusion detection applications such as Lenel OnGuard, GE Summit and Honeywell WinPak.

- Certification in commercial grade video and audio recording applications such as Genetec Omnicast, Milestone, ONSSI, and High Criteria Inc. Liberty Police Interview Recorder.

- Experience using commercial grade electronic access control or intrusion detection applications such as Lenel OnGuard, GE Summit and Honeywell WinPak.

- Experience providing level 1 technical troubleshooting assistance for mechanical security systems i.e. locks and keys.

- Experience in the field assisting in the installation, programming and maintenance of technical equipment such as, computerized access control systems, intrusion detection systems or closed circuit video systems.

- Experience contributing to the development of procedures, standards or other communications material.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Willingness and ability to work overtime on short notice.
- Able and willing to work a standard workweek between the hours 07:00 Hrs to 18:00 Hrs (Standard workweek (SWW) means a scheduled work period of five standard workdays weekly, Monday to Friday, totaling 37.5 hours with regular time off (RTO) on Saturday and Sunday).
- Valid driver’s license.

Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of 12 months and may be extended.

If a qualified candidate has been selected and appointed on an indeterminate basis from the established pool, they will be removed from the pool. If a candidate is selected for a specified period (including term, acting, or assignment/secondment) appointment, they will remain in the pool for future offers.
