Due to operational needs, Management reserves the right to offer acting appointment (less than four months) to some applicants (i.e. employees having submitted their application but having not yet been assessed) of their choice, while the evaluation process is being conducted in the background.
Once a pool of a fully qualified candidates has been established, indeterminate appointments shall be made exclusively from this pool. No acting appointment will lead to the promotional appointment of any candidate which has not been found qualified following completion of the evaluation process.
CS-02 - JOB SUMMARY:
The network administrator is responsible for the implementation, deployment and maintenance of IT infrastructure components, as well as operational and technical support to the various sectors of the RCMP "C" Division.
For example,
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot end user workstation hardware, software, security and peripheral devices
• Support and administer third-party applications
• Set up user accounts, permissions and passwords
• Provide technical support and guidance for users
• Resolve technical problems with Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and other systems
• Administer user accounts via Active Directory, group membership and rights
CS-03 JOB SUMMARY:
The network administrator's supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the support services. This role will act as a practical technical leader and an escalation point for complex problems. Assigns staff, directs work and assesses operational performance. Establishes work procedures and standards to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of assigned operations. Rely on their experience and judgment to plan and achieve their goals. Provides training, advice and guidance to a team with technical assistance and support to all employees in the "C" Division.
For example,
• Carry out analyzes and syntheses to ensure that the quality levels of the services are maintained and that the gaps are identified and repaired
• Provide technical advice and act as a consultant
• Management of complex technical problems
• Supervise, plan and manage the daily tasks of the technical support team, establish milestones and objectives
• Administer user accounts via Active Directory, group membership and assignment of rights according to established procedures.
The intent of this process is to staff FOUR vacant positions on an indeterminate basis. Secondarily, a pool of qualified candidates could be established and used to staff future vacancies within the Informatics Services sector, including acting appointments.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
Notes:
1. Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.
2. It is the recognized educational institution (e.g. community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution.
3. At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.
EXPERIENCE
Streams 1 & 2:
EX1. Recent* and significant** experience implementing and supporting current Windows operating systems, end user software and end-user computers/peripherals in a networked environment.
*Recent is defined as within the last 5 years.
**Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with approximately two years of experience.
Stream 2:
EX1. Experience providing end-user IT support in a wide area network environment.
EX2. Experience providing support for Wi-Fi connected computers.

K1. Knowledge of Microsoft Word Windows 7 or Windows 10 desktop operating systems.
K2. Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory concepts and tools for tasks like imaging and configuring workstations, deploying software applications, troubleshooting workstation issues through remote access, creating and maintaining user accounts.
K3. Knowledge of equipment and configurations applicable to LAN/WAN based systems.
K4. Knowledge of IT security.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

LEAVE/ABSENCES DURING THE SELECTION PROCESS
It is the responsibility of the candidate to notify the Departmental contact of any pre-approved leave throughout the duration of the process in order to facilitate scheduling of evaluations. One alternate date will be possible only if requested for the following reasons:
