Duties

The Regional Executive Officer, Quebec Region, serves as the chief executive officer in the Region on matters pertaining to First Nations and Inuit health.

Work environment

Indigenous Services Canada works collaboratively with partners to improve access to high quality services for First Nations, Inuit and Métis. Our vision is to support and empower Indigenous peoples to independently deliver services and address the socio-economic conditions in their communities.

Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory process. The intent is to staff the position indeterminately.

The process may also be used to staff similar positions with Indigenous Services Canada and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada with various language requirements and profiles, and in various locations in Canada.

EDUCATION:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

- Experience in working and negotiating with Aboriginal leaders or organizations, and provincial or territorial governments on large scale program or projects.

- Experience in managing complex* operations with high stakes in terms of program, service or partnership impacts.

- Experience in providing strategic advice to senior leaders on Aboriginal issues and relationships.

- Experience in managing human** and financial*** resources.

NOTES:

*Complex issues are defined as having two of the following characteristics: multidimensional, sensitive, confidential, affecting many partners or stakeholders, precedent setting or having a major impact on the program delivery for the public service.

**Human Resources : Applicants must clearly demonstrate that they have supervised staff, assigned work and developed staffing plans. Applicants must indicate the number of staff they supervised in each position.

***Financial Resources: Applicants must show evidence of managing and being accountable for a budget. This experience is defined as being responsible for financial planning, forecasting and reporting. Applicants must also indicate the size on the budget they managed directly.
