Our Pacific Region extends from the Canada/U.S. border to the Arctic, including British Columbia and the Yukon Territory. Our real property professionals include office accommodation specialists, architects, engineers, technologists, real estate experts and asset and facility managers. Our work in delivering services is equally diverse—it includes construction and repairs to federal correctional facilities, RCMP facilities, research laboratories, border crossings, parks facilities, transportation facilities as well as office fit-up in owned and leased facilities. Providing design management, project management, site inspections, investigations, evaluations and attends site meetings for Correctional Services Canada (CSC) institutions, RCMP facilities and federal government project sites.
As a Marine Survey Supervisor you will be challenged in collecting hydrographic survey data and processing hydrographic survey data on a quick turnaround basis. You will supervise a highly trained team in a dynamic forward thinking environment.
A pool of qualified candidates will be created and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (such as permanent, specified period or casual) based in Vancouver within the Department of Public Services and Procurement Canada. Should the selected candidate already be a public servant, the pool could also be used for acting appointments.

EDUCATION AND REGISTRATION:
Graduation with a Degree or a Diploma in Geomatics from a recognized post-secondary institution. (Program should have had a minimum of 4 semesters and included a field survey component).
You must be prepared to provide the original or a certified true copy of your educational credentials. Candidates with foreign credentials must provide proof of Canadian equivalency. EXPERIENCE:
Recent* experience in conducting Hydrographic Surveys using automated Hydrographic systems and software CARIS, QINSy.
Experience in the operation of multibeam hydrographic survey systems
Recent* experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D software
Recent* is defined as experience must be current within the last three (3) years

Knowledge of Hydrographic survey processes, concepts and methodologies (including but not limited to GPS surveying, coordinate systems, data collection, and data editing.)

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
Certification: Possession of a ticket to operate a 60 tonne vessel
Experience in the Supervision of Hydrographic Surveys
ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:
Placement of PSPC employees affected by work force adjustment.
Placement of employees subject to current or future reorganization.

Willingness and ability to travel using various modes of transportation such as float planes, and small survey vessels.
