Intent of the process

The immediate opportunity is intended to be staffed in Edmonton, Alberta or Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

Applications from this inventory will be accessed on July 10, 2020 to address the immediate opportunity; and subsequently as the need arises.

A qualified pool of candidates may be established from this process to staff identical or similar positions within the Department of Public Services and Procurement Canada in Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton or Yellowknife with various tenures (Indeterminate, Acting, Term, Deployment, Assignment, Secondment)

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
-Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
-Eligibility for certification as a Professional Engineer in Canada.

EXPERIENCE:
-Recent and significant experience* in project management of real property projects** related to environmental, geotechnical, civil or mining projects.
-Recent and significant experience* in managing contractors, consultants, and/or project teams and liaising with clients and/or stakeholders.
-Recent and significant experience* with major*** engineering and/or construction procurement processes and contract management.

* Recent and significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience associated with full-time performance of these duties for a period of at least 5 years in the last 7 years.

** Real property projects are defined as new construction or renovations (e.g. interior fit-up) for buildings, structures, improvements, and other utilities on, above, or below the surface of the land.

*** Major procurement processes and contract management is defined as those relating to contracts over five million dollars.

Certification as a Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP)

Registered as a professional engineer in Canada.

Experience in the assessment and remediation of contaminated sites projects in remote locations

Experience in delivering projects in northern climates (north of the 60th parallel)

Experience working in a hard rock mining environment

Experience working with tailings (management, containment, and/or covers).

Experience with large scale civil projects which require significant surface water drainage management, working in or adjacent to water bodies, and/or the development of significant granular material
