Duties

The work of the Programmer/Analyst will support three work streams:

• Mobile Application Developer - building innovative tools and resources for our users that will personalize their HR experience and provide value anytime, anywhere.
• User Interface / User Experience Designer - delivering a modern, sophisticated and intuitive user experience with our products.
• Data Analyst – harnessing information and applying analytics to drive our business, tell our stories, and support our digital transformation.

Intent of the process

A pool of partially qualified or fully qualified candidates may be created to staff identical or similar positions with various tenures, linguistic profiles and security requirements within the Department of National Defence and throughout the federal public service.

Candidates may be evaluated further on qualifications that are deemed necessary for specific opportunities, whether or not these qualifications have been listed on the job advertisement. Candidates may be required to provide work samples in order to complement their application for this process.

In the event that an employee of the public service is qualified through this process, the candidate may be considered for acting, deployment, assignment or secondment opportunities.

EDUCATION

Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

EX1: *Recent and significant experience in at least one of the following areas:

a) Mobile application development with experience in Nativescript, Javascript, SQL, Python, and/or Azure Web Services.
b) User Interface / User Experience Designer design and production.
c) Database design and management.
d) IM/IT business analysis OR IM/IT project management.
e) Business intelligence interfaces such as Power BI, Business Objects, Cognos.
f) Data visualization.
g) Manipulation and management of large datasets in MS Excel, SAS or similar tools.

*Recent and significant is defined as having a minimum two years of experience acquired within the last four years.
