HOW TO APPLY
You must submit a complete application, consisting of a resume and answers to screening questions. These questions will be used as the primary tool in the screening process and your résumé will only be used to validate the information you provided.
The screening board cannot make any assumptions about your experience. It is not sufficient to say that you have the required qualifications or to list your current duties. In your response to the screening questions, please provide concrete examples and the following MANDATORY information:

3. Specific details of tasks, projects, or accomplishments demonstrating how you acquired the experience.

Assets qualifications could be invoked at the time of screening and/or appointment of candidates.
Catalogues and classifies library material (e.g. books, journals, CD-ROM) including maintenance and upkeep of library collection.
Performs bibliographic searches using library automated systems, the internet and online or CD ROM databases.
Develops and modifies internal procedures.
Performs interlibrary loans.
Supervises clerk-offenders and prepares budget submissions for library operations.
Processing acquisitions (purchasing, verifying, and receiving) for collection development, interacting with publishers and suppliers to coordinate services and resolve problems.
Responds to reference enquiries.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the courts. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), as part of the criminal justice system and respecting the rule of law, contributes to public safety by actively encouraging and assisting offenders to become law-abiding citizens, while exercising reasonable, safe, secure and humane control.
The library technician position is located at Atlantic Institution. Atlantic Institution is a maximum-security facility located in the rural community of Renous, 30 kilometres from the city of Miramichi, and 10 kilometers from the Village of Blackville, New Brunswick.
The library technician will be in direct contact with offenders, in a library setting.
This process will be used to staff one (1) bilingual indeterminate part-time position (18.75 hours weekly) with - - B / - - B linguistic profile.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established from this process and may be used to staff future opportunities at Atlantic Institution.

EDUCATION
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in the field of library science, library technology, sociology, education, criminology, criminal justice or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed; OR
• An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience in a field relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE
EX1. Recent experience and significant* in the operation of a library.
EX2. Experience in the use of various software programs (such as Microsoft Office or various library software applications)
*Recent and significant experience is normally gained over a period of one year (can be cumulative) within the last 3 years
KNOWLEDGE
K1. Knowledge of library management.
K2. Knowledge of Commissioner`s Directive CD 720 – Education programs and services for offenders.

ASSESSMENT
Considering the current situation related to COVID-19 and in order to accelerate the selection process, assessments may be conducted virtually through various means, including but not limited to interviews, written tests (take home assignments or other), references or a combination of these or other assessment methods. Other sources of information (such as performance agreements, work samples, board member knowledge, etc.) may be used to assess the criteria identified on the Statement of Merit Criteria.
Recent and past performance evaluations may be used as part of the assessment. Accordingly, applicants may be required to submit a copy of their last two Performance Ratings/Evaluations as part of this selection process.
You must be able to provide proof of your education credentials.
