The immediate need is to fill one (1) indeterminate position, and (1) term position.

Education:
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
Experience:
Experience in using computer programming languages for cloud or science-based application development.
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or equivalent technical education, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry, computer science, information technology, or another specialty relevant to the positon.
Experience developing technical documentation, and code versioning.
Experience collaborating with operational fire management agencies.
Operational Requirements:
Willing and able to travel.

Knowledge:
Knowledge of computer modelling and simulation, mathematical or statistical algorithms.
Knowledge of methodology and software to define, analyze and integrate data sets, and to verify data integrity.
Knowledge of web services and application programming interfaces (APIs)*.
Knowledge of industry standard data management practices, data modeling and data integration**.

Abilities:
Ability to develop and implement scientific models by planning, executing, and maintaining computer programs in one or more of C, C++, Python, Java, R, FORTRAN, Lisp, Prolog, SAS, or MATLAB.
Ability to use Geographic Information Systems including ESRI and open sources software to produce databases, maps and other digital products.
Ability to communicate effectively orally.
Personal Suitability:

Knowledge of core Canadian wildfire science.
Knowledge or experience in programming parallel or threaded process.
Knowledge of Open Geospatial Consortium standards.
Ability to work with end-users to understand business needs and to develop new technologies into end-user applications.
