Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) works collaboratively with partners to improve access
to high quality services for First Nations, Inuit and Métis. Our vision is to support and empower Indigenous peoples to independently deliver services and address the socio-economic conditions in their communities.

Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff one (1) indeterminate position with English Essential linguistic profile. A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be created and may be used to staff similar positions at an identical or equivalent group and level with various languages proficiencies (English Essential, Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC), with various security profiles, various tenures and various locations, for positions within Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) or Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC).

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

A university degree in public health, a health related discipline or emergency management.

**Consideration will be given for an equivalent combination of education, training and professional experience in Emergency Operations Centre, Incident Command System or other related courses.

**Equivalent combination of education, training and professional experience means that candidates who do not have the university degree as specified above must have formal Emergency Management training (verifiable with a certificate or diploma), and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in Emergency Management.

Degree equivalency

A minimum of approximately two (2) years of experience in emergency planning, preparedness and response.

Experience in providing advice and recommendations to senior management on emergency management and/or crisis response activities

Experience leading and/or developing tabletop exercises.

Ability to plan and lead projects or initiatives.

Ability to organize and prioritize.

Ability to analyse information, make appropriate recommendations, provide advice to senior management and/or First Nations.

Ability to work with various levels of government, First Nations and other key partners in emergency management and response.

Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

Knowledge of Emergency Management systems – Emergency Operations Centre and/or Incident Command System 100, 200, 300.

Experience working with First Nations communities and/or organizations

Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of various levels of government and organizations related to emergency management and response

Knowledge of First Nations communities and culture in the Atlantic region.

Ability to speak Mi'kmaq or Maliseet.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Valid driver's license required.

Must be able to travel frequently by vehicle and air including to remote/isolated communities in small aircraft to perform work related functions and to attend meetings throughout the Atlantic region and in other parts of the country.

Willing and able to work overtime upon short notice.
