Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to establish a pool of qualified candidates to staff similar or identical positions within Transport Canada, Pacific Region on a permanent or temporary basis (depending on the position to be staffed).

Successful completion of an Aviation program from a recognized college or university
Professional security designation
Experience in the transportation industry (including one or more of the following: aviation management, airline operations, Security screening operations, Aviation Cargo security or transportation, Transportation of dangerous goods, rail/urban transportation, transportation logistics)
Experience in project management
Experience in conducting environmental, risk, or vulnerability assessments.
Experience in risk-based decision making.
Experience in emergency management.
Experience in outreach activities, including preparing and delivering presentations.
Experience in adult learning, including developing and delivering content.

Operational Requirements:

Common to all positions:
Ability and willingness to work in outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
Ability and willingness to drive for long distances in all weather conditions.

Specific to Aviation Security Stream :
Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain an Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP).
Ability and willingness to work in and around airport and cargo facility environments, including remote and industrial locations.

Specific to Intermodal Surface Security Oversight Stream only :
Ability and willingness to climb structures and equipment on sites where the access is difficult and the terrain rugged, on occasion when required.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance

Required to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Required to pass a pre-employment Category III medical for Transportation Security Inspectors and pass a periodic Category II medical every 5 years.
Required to perform stand-by duties on a 24/7 basis.
Required to travel on short notice for extended periods regionally, domestically and internationally using all modes of transportation.
Required to work overtime and/or irregular hours as assigned including on short notice.
