The position is located at Gatineau with possibility of telework.
• Conducts investigations, analyses and assessments of a variety of comprehensive applications and projects related to major rail infrastructure projects.
• Assesses and resolves the allocation of construction and maintenance costs of grade separations and other rail infrastructure projects.
• Evaluates the reasonableness and validity of the engineering designs, the cost estimates and related expenditures.
• Provides engineering advice for the purpose of dispute resolution.
• Reviews, investigates and resolves complaints and disputes filed with the Agency arising from disagreement between railway companies and municipalities or landowners.
• Conducts reviews or investigations into complaints affecting federally-regulated transportation modes in developing reports and recommendations for use in rendering Agency Orders and Decisions;
• Plans, coordinates and conducts follow-up monitoring of railway construction and operation activities.
• Provides professional engineering knowledge, analysis and advice, including at public hearings.
• Conducts on-site inspections for various rail infrastructure projects and prepares track inspection reports which are sent to parties for their acceptance.
• Participates in interdepartmental and multi-stakeholder environmental assessment teams to conduct environmental assessments of rail infrastructure projects.
• Collaborates and supports the work of Transport Canada related to issues of railway safety that might affect the Agency's mandate.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Graduation with an engineering degree with a specialization related to the duties of the position from a recognized university.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Member of a Professional Engineering Association in Canada.
EXPERIENCE:
Significant* and recent** experience in the design, construction, maintenance or inspection of railway infrastructure projects.
Experience in providing technical advice to management*** via reports, presentations, or other types of relevant communications.
*Significant experience is defined as at least two(2) years of experience where the duties were a core component of the person's responsibilities.
** Recent is defined as within the last ten (10) years where the duties were a core component of the person's responsibilities.
*** Management means at the director level or higher.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Master's degree in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience working in an administrative tribunal.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Willingness and ability to travel within Canada and abroad, including travel by car, rail and air.
Willingness and ability to work overtime, when required.
Bilingual - Imperative (BBB/BBB)
