Although the immediate intent of this selection process is to fill three (3) indeterminate positions, applicants should be aware that this process may also be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates to staff similar positions within Statistics Canada or in other government departments.

Director, Census Communications (Stream 1).

Director, Strategic Communications and Official Release (Stream 2).

Director, Data Access (Stream 3).

EDUCATION

STREAMS 1 and 2:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

STREAM 3:
Graduation with a master's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

STREAMS 1 and 2:
EXP1
Significant* experience providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior officials on complex or sensitive communications issues.

EXP2
Significant* experience leading the development and execution of communications strategies, plans and activities.

STREAM 3:
EXP1 Significant* experience in program management in one of the areas related to social or economic statistics, or related program area.

EXP2 Experience delivering transformative, multi-stakeholder programs.

ALL STREAMS:
EXP3
Significant* experience establishing and maintaining productive client relations as well as strategic partnerships or networks with key internal or external stakeholders.

EXP4 Experience managing human and financial resources.


DEFINITION:
* Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex activities related to this task, which is normally acquired over a period of at least three (3) consecutive years.

AEXP1 Experience developing and leading a national advertising campaign.

STREAMS 1 and 2:
AEXP2 Experience developing and implementing digital communication strategies
(social media or online communication).

AEXP4 Experience implementing and managing the overall strategic planning process
for a Communications program.

AEXP5 Experience directing the delivery of effective communications and public
affairs services in at least two (2) of the following:
- News conference or releases ;
- Speeches ;
- Media interviews ;
- Media monitoring and analysis ;
- Ministerial visits, emergency and crisis communications ;
- Communications standards.

STREAM 3:
AEXP6 Experience leading a project with a large information technology (IT)
component.

AEXP7 Experience in managing and delivering client-focused programs or services for
a department or agency.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
STREAM 1:
Willingness and ability to travel
Willingness and ability to work overtime
Willingness and ability to work 24/7 on-call status (in case of emergencies)
