Duties

The Canadian Geodetic Survey (CGS) provides authoritative reference values, products and services available on-line for the integration of precise positioning and gravity measurements into national standards. These products serve as the common foundation for all mapping, charting, navigation, boundary demarcation, crustal deformation, and other georeferencing needs in Canada.

EN-SUR-01: In a team environment and under the general supervision of a Project Leader, a junior geodetic engineer conducts data acquisition activities for accurate positioning and/or gravity field measurement in support of geodetic reference frame maintenance and improvement; evaluates and analyses geodetic data; assists in the installation and/or maintenance of scientific instruments and related data acquisition systems; provides technical input and support in the implementation and improvement of geodetic data processing methods and end-user applications; writes project reports and performs other duties required in support of management and operations.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to create a pool of qualified candidates which may be used to staff anticipated future vacancies (full-time; permanent and temporary) for Junior Geodetic Engineers at the EN-SUR-01 group and level within the Canadian Geodetic Survey Division of Natural Resources Canada.

The pool may also be used to staff identical or similar positions at the EN-SUR-01 group and level within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (permanent or temporary), various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential or Bilingual), various linguistic profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability status or Secret clearance), and with various conditions of employment.

►Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in land survey theory and practice or other related field such as geomatics, geodetic sciences or remote sensing.
