Work environment

Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s Maurice Lamontagne Institute, located in Mont Joli, is one of the world’s major francophone marine sciences centres.

The Regional Ecosystems Management Branch has a mandate to conserve and protect freshwater and marine ecosystems in the Quebec region by implementing policies derived from federal legislation. Our structure has four main divisions: Marine Planning and Conservation; Fish and Fish Habitat Protection - Regulatory Reviews; Fish and Fish Habitat Protection - Partnerships and Integrated Planning; and Species at Risk Management. The Branch regularly makes BI-03 and BI-04 term appointments of more than six months and indeterminate appointments.

Intent of the process

There are two streams to this process:

- BI-04 : Team Leader

The intent of this process is to staff at least one (1) BI-04 indeterminate position, one (1) BI-04 determined position for a period of one (1) year or more, two (2) BI-03 indeterminate positions and two (2) BI-03 determined positions for a period of one (1) year or more. Several other appointments identified could be made in the short term.

A pool of partially qualified candidates for each of the components will be created and may be used to fill similar indeterminate or determined positions within the Regional Ecosystems Management Branch at Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
