The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is looking for talented and skilled individuals to join its adjudications team. The team is located at 73 Leikin Drive, in Ottawa, Ontario (Barrhaven), in a modern building with plenty of free parking, convenient access to bus routes immediately outside of the building, free use of a gym, a Tim Hortons and a cafeteria onsite.
The immediate need is to staff ten positions on an indeterminate basis, with linguistic profiles of English essential, Bilingual Imperative CCC/CCC and Bilingual Imperative CPC/CPC and a RCMP Secret security clearance.
A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.
**Please note that these positions are advertised simultaneously via an internal process and an external process; and the same assessment tools will be applied to both processes. Consequently, candidates who applied will only be assessed once.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in human resources management, labour or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, social sciences, or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed.
Or
An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, that is comparable to a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization relevant to the work to be performed.
EXPERIENCE:
EX1. Significant* experience in analyzing voluminous documents that contain legal material such as legislation, regulation, jurisprudence, as well as policies and arguments on issues of a legal nature.
EX2. Significant* experience in conducting research in fields that relate to the responsibilities of the position, such as law.
EX3. Significant* experience in drafting documents that include the analysis of complex** legal issues.
*Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience associated with having performed a broad range of related activities which could be normally acquired over a period of approximately two (2) years.
**Complex includes items that could refer to: having many elements or dimensions; having significant public visibility; featuring significant involvement by partners or stakeholders; circumstances where there is no information or contradictory information; having potential risks to the department, etc.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
AQED1. Law degree from a Canadian university recognized by a law society in Canada.
AQED2. A certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in law or legal studies and having performed work in a field and/or work environment specializing in the interpretation and application of statutory instruments for the last five years.
EXPERIENCE:
AQEX1. Experience having performed work in a field or work environment specializing in the interpretation and application of statutory instruments.
AQEX2. Experience in conducting critical analysis of records submitted for a decision by a quasi-judicial tribunal.
AQEX3. Experience in drafting decisions, at times extensive, with reasons supported by applicable legislation, policy and jurisprudence.
AQEX4. Experience in working in a quasi-judicial environment.
AQEX5. Experience with one or more of the following: RCMP conduct process, a legislated grievance process, Canadian Human Rights Act, Privacy Act, Treasury Board Secretariat Policy on Prevention and Resolution of Harassment in the Workplace, duty to accommodate, administrative law, principles of natural justice and procedural fairness, judicial review.

- Willing and able to work overtime as and when required and on short notice, including weekends, to meet operational requirements.
- Willing and able to travel as and when required.
