The purpose of this process is to create a inventory of candidates that will be used to to staff positions within the Canadian Coast Guard with employment tenures, language requirements, security requirements and work locations that may vary depending on the needs of the positions being staffed.

EDUCATION:
Have a high school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in minor maintenance work such as lawn cutting and painting.
Experience in the utilization of shop’s tools and equipment.
Significant* experience in outdoor work in variable weather conditions.
*Significant experience is based on the depth, breadth and complexity of the experience normally associated with performing these duties full-time for a minimum period of approximately one (1) year.

KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of safety rules related to the operation of power and gas tools, off-ground work and signaller duties.

EXPERIENCE:
Experience in the operation in forklift truck and snow removal equipment including snow blowers, small trucks with plows and salt or sand spreaders.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
Knowledge of chain saw handling and operation.
ABILITY:
Ability to analyse and resolve problems.
Reliability Status security clearance
Valid Quebec class 5 driver’s license.
Willing and be able to do strenuous fieldwork.
Willing and be able to travel for period up to six weeks and using various modes of transportation including helicopter and ship.
Willing and able to travel far from home for long periods (up to 6 weeks).
Medical exam.
Willing and able to work overtime.
Willing and able to climb and work in high structure (towers) up to 40 meters high.
